{geni:about_me} My grandfather, also known as Bill, was a soldier in World War II. His mother Agnes passed away during that time (5/12/1944), but he was able to attend her funeral along with his fiance Lois. At Agnes' funeral (of which I have a signature book with the names of attendees; it's in my Geni photo album), the priest castigated my grandfather for not attending mass more often. After that, Bill married his longtime girlfriend Lois (11/16/1944)and became Methodist. My mom was born three years later, and the only other Tobins my mother remembers associating with lived in Ohio.

My mother Linda said that my grandmother noted that Bill, my grandfather, was never the same after the war. I remember him as being jovial enough, a loving grandfather. He was an engineer and had good, middle-class jobs. He passed away when I was 9 (7/8/1979).
