As a young man, Philip Zerkowitz and his younger brother, Alexander, left Trencin City and moved to Budapest. In 1899, he was operating a hackney-carriage (cab) service and was in Budapest VI, Kiraly utca. In 1902-1903, he was a "merchant of underwear" and was residing in Budapest VII. In 1904, he was living in the 6th district and wasworking in an embroidery shop. In 1909, he was back in the 7th district, but, by 1914, was living in the 8th district.
