{geni:about_me} Charlotte Tauber had the Hebrew name of "Sara". She accompanied her parents to the United States in November 1897, and the ship manifest lists her as "Sari Tauber". Following her mother's death, Charlotte adopted her name ["Adelaide"] as her own middle name. Charlotte became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1908. In 1912, she worked as a secretary for former President Theodore Roosevelt in his failed "Bull Moose" campaign. She subsequently resided with her first husband, Leroy Henry Taylor, in Massachusetts, living in Stoneham, Salem, and Winchester. After her divorce from Leroy Taylor, she lived for a period of time in the home of her sister, Stella, in Manhattan, then moved to Portland, Maine. Following her second marriage in Portland to Victor Hanscom (1922), they resided in Rochester, New Hampshire (1922-1934), Melrose, Massachusetts (1934-1936), and in Chatham, New Hampshire (1936-1947). Devastated by the death of her son, Lt. Argyle Hanscom, in 1944, she subsequently suffered a series of heart attacks and finally, a fatal one in January 1947. She is buried next to her husband in Chatham Center, New Hampshire.
