On Thanksgiving Day 1897, Irma's parents and all of her younger siblings all arrived in the U.S., and the entire family was reunited. Irma was a fourth cousin to her husband, David Buchler. Her great-great-grandmother, Schewe [Sheva] Tauber (Knopfelmacher) (1749-1817), was a sister to David's great-great-grandfather, Rabbi Salomon Knopfelmacher (1745-1810).
Between 1925 and 1929, Irma Buchler (Tauber) took three trips back to Europe, accompanied on one of them by some of her children and by another, by her husband:
