Notes for Markus (Mordecai) Knöpfelmacher
{geni:about_me} Markus Knopfelmacher, b. in Kelc in 1789, was a twin to his brother Joseph, but was the older of the two. As his father's eldest son, he had legal standing to become a familiant in Mahr. Weisskirchen (now Hranice), and was ultimately given permission to receive familiant #94 from the deceased Isaias Jakob Donath (who d. 19 Feburary 1806). Despite his status as a familiant, he soon left the Mahr. Weisskirchen-Kelc area, and moved southwardto Zaroschutz, Moravia [now Zarosice, Czech Republic]. He resided there until his death, which occurred on 24 October 1834, age 45.

Upon Markus Knopfelmacher's death, his Mahr. Weisskirchen familiant status (#94) was passed along to his second son, Joseph (1813-1842).

Every one of Markus' surviving daughters -- Peppi, Netty, Ernestine, Hanni, Fanni, and Julie -- named sons "Markus" in honor of their father, as did his son Leopold.
