Notes for Vera Dora Heimann
{geni:about_me} Her family entered the US in Galveston and settled in Tyler, Texas. Then moved to New York. She was the only one of her siblings to attend college, the Normal College (now Hunter College). She graduated in 1903.The class photograph is in the family. The class comment on her at graduation was that she was "good without pretense," which her son Arthur said really fitted her. She worked as a teacher with an innovative educator names AngeloPatri (sp.?) She gave up teaching around the time her daughter Eleanor was born. With husband traveling, she was responsible for raising the children and being the homemaker. Remembered by her son Arthur as a "very warm, verykind sweet person". She made particular efforts to get him switched to a more progressive elementary school, that would afford a more progressive education, P.S. 235. The new school was good, but it removed Art from close contactwith his neighborhood friends and classmates.
