{geni:about_me} He married Leah Plisetski [Pliseuk] on June 11th 1899 in the bride's home town of Neizhin, in Chernigov Province in Russian [now Ukraine]. Family legend says he escaped conscription into the Russian Army and crossed the border into Romania before making his way to England. He left behind his wife and baby son. The son died. He thought he was going to USA and made his way to Liverpool but failed the medical due to glaucoma. He returnedto the East End of London.
By the 1901 census, he was living in 143 Stepney Green Buildings, London E1, aged 24, with his 22 yr old wife, mother in law Phoebe aged 50 and a 1 year old daughter, Mary [probably Miriam]. The baby died shortly after and they went on to have 7 further children who survived.
In 1924, they were registered as living at 139 Stepney Green. Tel: East 5717
Leah died in December 1927. He remarried Ada Wisebad in December 1932.
