{geni:about_me} Eleanor Stein Rusnak passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2013. Eleanor was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 19, 1915 to Dr. Irving F. and Lucile Oberfelder Stein. Her beloved younger brother, Dr. Irving F (Bud). Stein Jr. preceded her in death. Eleanor was married to Raymond L. Rusnak until his passing in 1992. Dear mother to Raymond L. Rusnak Jr. of Chicago, Lucile R. Krasnow, of Evanston, and Ronald Rusnak of Golden, Colorado. Dear grandmother to six: Katherine Herman (Andrew), Claire Romera (Antonio), Allison Krasnow (Michael Boals), Benjamin Krasnow (Madeline), Julieana Rusnak, and E. Stephanie Rusnak. Dear great grandmother to seven: Asher and Leor Herman, Rebecca and Sofia Romera, Egan Krasnow Boals, Morgan Boals, and Judah Krasnow.
Eleanor was a graduate and notable swimmer and diver at the University of Chicago LAB School (1932), Mills College (1936), and received her MA in Social Work from the University of Chicago (1938). She was an avid volunteer her entire life; serving as president of the Woman’s Board of Mt. Sinai Hospital, and for over 20 years at Highland Park hospital. She was a member of the North Shore Garden Club and enjoyed unique talents as a flower arranger. She wasa passionate tennis player, golfer, and swimmer until very late in life. A dear friend to many, Elly’s generosity, charm and glowing personality will always be fondly remembered. Please join us in celebrating a life well lived.
