Notes for Samuel Patai (Pollak)
{geni:about_me} From Larry Autobiography:

I know little about my family beyond my grandparents. However I know what sort of people they were; central European Jews who migrated to Hungary and tried very hard to assimilate. They were an important group in Hungary from the 19th century until Hitler came. To assimilate they changed their names, many became Christians and identified with the country and not with their Jewish heritage. A similar family is described in the movie “Sunshine”; in whichthe family seems to have assimilated completely, but are still victims of the Holocaust.

Being “magyarized” included changing your name, thus grandfather Samuel Pollak became Samuel Patai.
