ELSOHN--Margit Subak, 96, passed away July 18, 2007 in her home in New York City. Margit was educated at Charles University in Prague, and at King's College in London. She came to the United States on New Year's Eve of 1941 from her native Czechoslovakia. She enjoyed a remarkably long and storied life as a potter and beloved wife of the late Jule Michael Elsohn. She taught pottery at Greenwich House from 1965 to 1971 and at the Potter's Studio from 1969 to1980. She exhibited extensively and her work is included in many private collections in the U.S. and abroad. Margit was predeceased by her sister Gerda and nephews John and Frank Subak and is survived by many devoted grand niecesand nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:15 am on Sunday, July 22 at the Riverside Memorial Chapel on 180 West 76th Street. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
