Age 87, passed away at his home in St. Paul, Minnesota on Jan. 17th, 2014. Alan was born November 26, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Aaron and Eleanor Kanter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned toChicago after being honorably discharged in 1952. His work on cooling systems brought him to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in 1964, where he later retired from the 3M Corporation in 1992. His interests included golfing, bowling,and coin collecting. He was active in the community and was a volunteer for the St. Paul Parks Department. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Julian; and his sister-in-law Lois. He is survived by his sister Joan (Barry) Elman; his daughters Debbi Amadeck and Kathy (Jeremy) Hill, to whom he was a cherished father; and his grandchildren Dylan, Addison, and Abigail.
