Jenny Kien is a adjunct Professor in the Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Program at Bar-Ilan University. She received a Ph.D. in Neurobiology (Australian National University) in 1973 and a Doctorate in Zoology (University of Regensburg, Germany) in 1980. Her research on invertebrate motor systems led to the “consensus” theory - an informal description of the planning and organization in the motor system, summed up in “Neurobiology of Motor Programme Selection” (1992). She went on to research the motor origins of human language ability. Carrying out an early study on the history of women in science, she has developed courses on feminist criticism of biology and on ecofeminism andglobalization which she teaches in the Gender Studies Programs of Bar-Ilan and Tel Aviv Universities. She has also published feminist criticism of Judaism: Reinstating the Divine Woman in Judaism (2000) and The Battle between the Moon and Sun (2003).
