{geni:about_me} Jacob Heller appears in the 1900 census but is gone by the 1910 census. In 1910, Julie is living with Sam, Ella and Earl Rusnak.

RESEARCH INTO WHAT HAPPENED TO JACOB AFTER HE LEFT JULIE IN 1901:

The first mention of Jacob Heller is in the 1850 Hungarian Census. He was born on December 14, 1848 and was living in 1850 in Slanitz, Hungary.

In the 1900 census in Chicago, it says that Jacob lives in Chicago with Julie, Paula, Bruno, Bertha and Robert Pick on West Wellington. It says that he was born in Germany in 1848, had been married for 21 years, and worked as a Manager. [Actually he was born in Hungary.]

Jacob initially settled in Providence, leaving the family in Vienna. There is a Jacob Heller listed also in an 1895 Rhode Island City directory, also, who could be the right person. A Jacob Heller who was a member in the 1890sof the Providence Turn-Verein, which I in assume was a social club. The family lived there for a while, before they went to Chicago, but I am not sure when they left. Julie and the kids arrived in the US in June 1891 (I have the boat manifest). I assume that Jacob arrived in Providence in about 1886, since he was naturalized in 1888. They were living in Chicago by 1900.

Jacob Heller must have gone to NY sometime after 1900 census. In the divorce decree, it says he left the family and went to NY in November, 1901. He died on March 14, 1906 of Tuberculosis of the lungs and genito-urinary system. He had been at Mt. Sinai hospital between January 16,1906 and March 14, 1906. Mt Sinai was a Jewish charity hospital, which was then located at 100th St. between 5th Ave. and Madison. The death certificate says he was living at606 126th St. (no E or W, so the location is not clear)

Jacob was buried on March 16, 1906 at Mt. Neboh Cemetery in Queens/Brooklyn. The undertaker was Sam Rothschild, of 54 E. 116th St. According to a 1907 NYTimes article I found, Sam ran the Jewish Cemetery north of Manhattan. According to the cemetery, he is buried in public lot 14, grave 10.
