{geni:about_me} Birthdate is found in ''Geburtstags Merkbuch / Birthday Book'' of Ernestine Reif Schlesinger, in possession of Janet Lindner, ERS's great-grandaughter. Entry by Ernestine Reif Schlesinger (his aunt) as "Heinzi."

Per genteam.at ''Index of the Jewish Records of Vienna'', birth recorded with father's name "Bernard / Berthold Dr.", 1900 Num. 2451, Vol. Wien.

Heinrich Reif-Gintl (7 October 1900, Vienna-13 July 1974, Vienna) was an Austrian opera manager and theatre director. He attended the ''Gymnasium Wasagasse'' in Vienna, with Josef Krips, for three years. After graduation he studied law at the University of Vienna, then attended musicological lectures and learned to play the violin and the French horn. His career in theater administration began after he completed his Doctorate in Law. From 1925 he workedat the Vienna State Opera under the direction of Franz Schalk, becoming executive secretary in September 1937. After the "Anschluss" of Austria he was removed from his post because of his Jewish ancestry, in September 1938.

After the Second World War Reif-Gintl was deputy director, alongside Franz Salmhofer, at the Theater an der Wien, during its reconstruction. In 1955 he was appointed head of the theater department of the federal operating theatermanagement. On 1 January 1965 he moved to the State Opera, where he succeeded as director from 1968-1972. Described in [http://books.google.com/books?id=9dVd-ZHpKbIC&...0Reif%22&f=false ''La Nilsson: My Life in Opera'']: "[At the Vienna State Opera in 1968]" there was a change of directors. After Dr. Hilbert, who died . . . on the way home from a day's work as his opera, came his assistant director, Dr. [jur.] Heinrich Reif-Gintl, who was appointed director in 1969. He was a congenial and quiet man who disliked any unnecessary confusion around him. Reif-Gintl had been employed by the opera since 1923, and had worked under eight opera directors. What he must have known about the Staatsoper!
