{geni:about_me} KRAININ - David A. died on the evening of July 12, 1997, in Boca Raton, FL, following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Wineblatt Krainin; two sons, Julian Krainin of Palisades, NY, andLewis Krainin of Naples, ME; his grandchildren, Todd and Sarah Krainin, and his brother, Dr. Philip Krainin, originally of New York City, and recently of MD. David Krainin was born in 1907 in New York City, the son of, Julius Krainin and Dora Shifrin Krainin. He attended DeWitt Clinton and Erasmus Hall High Schools in New York City, where he graduated at the top of his class. Following high school, he graduated from City College and N.Y.U. Law School. He practiced law in New York City for over 30 years. In his early career he was a professional musician and entertainer, and in the early 1930's was the Social Director of the Nevele Country Club in Ellenville, New York. For many years he wrote comedy skits, composed lyrics for numerous songs, developed various inventions, and participated actively in public discussions of social and political issues. For a total of 20 years he served as Vice-President, and later President, of the Shifrin Family Association, at the time the largest family circle organization in the United States. In the last two decades, he helped establish the adult education program and taught Hebrew classes at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton. He also was the founding director of the Temple's choral group. Throughout his life he was a passionate supporter of the State of Israel and causes related to social justice. After his retirement in 1969,and until recently, Mr. Krainin's summers were spent with family and friends at his home at Hillbrook Acres in Naples, ME. A memorial service, following cremation, is scheduled for 10 am, Sunday, July 20, 1997, at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton. A brief visiting period will take place afterward at the Krainin home, also in Boca Raton. Interment will be at Hillsbrook Acres, in Maine, on what would have been David Krainin's 90th birthday, September 7, 1997.
