{geni:occupation} Cineasta
{geni:about_me} Lais is a typical paulistana: Her grandmother Eloina was born in Juazeiro da Bahia (BA), and her grandmother Rosa in Vienna, Austria. Daughter of the moviemaker Jorge Bodansky (director of the classic Iracema, UmaTransa Amazônica), Lais graduated with a cinema bachelor's degree in FAAP. Before her first film for the movies, she won many awards for her videos, such as Bia Bai, winner of the Minute Festival in 1993 and Desliga Esse Troço! (Turn That Thing Off!), that won the Cine Mania TV Manchete Program Award. Her first work in the movie segment was her short Cartão Vermelho (Red Card), that won many awards in Brazil, including Best Director Award in the 1994 FestRio, Best Actress and Critic's Award in the Brasilia Film Festival in 1994. In 1995 the film was selected by the New York Film Festival and shown in the Plus Channel in France and Spain.

With the desire of going beyond the atmosphere of the festivals and meeting the greater audiences, Lais began to develop since 1996, along with Luiz Bolognesi, the Cine Mambembe Project, that until this day exhibits Brazilian movies around the country for people who can't afford or don't have access to the movie theaters

During the Cine Mambembe sessions, Lais and Luiz made the Cine Mambembe - The Movies Discover Brazil documentary, that traveled all over the world and won many awards: Brazil Award for Best Documentary 2000; Silver Daisy Award, 1999; Juror's Special Award in the Gramado Festival, 1999; Second place Award for Best Latin American Documentary in Havana, 1999 and Best Vanguard International Film in the New York International Festival, 2000.

In the year 2000, Lais directed Bicho de Sete Cabeças (Brainstorm), here first long movie. The film collected many awards in the Brasilia and Recife Festivals, and many compliments from the press. The people that she always wantedto meet with the Mambembe project has filled the projecting rooms and been touched with her first long movie.
