Samuel Reichman, butcher of Raab no. 27, and his wife Barbara nee Tausek (daughter of Rosalia aka Eva nee Breitenfeld and Samuel Tausek) had 8 legitimate children :

i Maria born in August 6, 1828 in Nemcice no. 5

ii Marcus born in December 14, 1831 in Nemcice no. 5

iii Anna born in in August 26, 1834 in Nemcice no. 5

iv Rosalia born in April 13, 1836 in Raab no. 27

v Ludwig born in March 22, 1838 in Raab no. 27

vi Katharina born in October 6, 1840 in Raab no. 27

vii Josepha born in September 26, 1843 in Raab no. 27

viii Johana born in January 5, 1846 in Raab no. 27

In the book there were two sets of birth records of children of Samuel and Barbara nee Tausek Reichman, one written in the book with the dates shown above, and also an insert with different days and months, even Rosalia is listedthere as born in Nemcice (see 2 separate attachments).

In the same book of Kunetice parish, in Brozany there were born 3 kids of Marcus Reichman and Anna nee Israel Jakob of Prestavlky :

i Theresia born in December 15, 1787

ii Samuel born in May 18, 1790

iii Israel born in July 28, 1795

You asked which Samuel Reichman from the two different Familiant books is yours. Well, this is not an easy answer. For some (unknown to me) reasons in Familiant books there were the same notes with both names Samuel = both men named Samuel Reichman were single in October 31, 1834 recorded both in book HBF 58 and in the book HBF 59. However, Samuel Reichman of Raab, father of Rosalia, had already the legitimate daughter born in 1828 and son Marcus in 1831.Samuel Reichman of Bukovina had son Ludwig in 1833 as you will see below.

My assumption is that your Samuel is the one from Brozany, then from Raab, son of Marcus. I think that a second visit to Pardubice to see Raab and Bukovina Censuses 1857, 1868 might help to solve that puzzle. Being there for the first visit I did not think thoroughly about duplicity that showed up: Samuel Reichman of Raab and Samuel Reichman of Bukovina. If at least one of them was still there in any of those 2 places, then the birth place might be recorded in Census.

I also studied book of Dritec parish which includes Bukovina Jewish records. It is obvious

that the Samuel Reichman´s 2 lineages followed similar naming pattern. This makes it even more difficult. I found a lot of records on Samuel Reichman of Bukovina, some of them confusing.

Section of marriage records:

1. Marcus Reichman of Borek, 30 years old, son of Joseph Reichman of Bukovina married in Brozany synagogue in July 30, 1849 Eleonore Wildenschwert, daughter of Pinkas Wildenschwert of Byst, witness Samuel Reichman of Raab.

2. Samuel Reichman of Bukovina, single, 25 (this I found very strange, see below Ludwig´s marriage record), son of Joseph Reichman of Bukovina married in July 30 in Brozany synagogue Rosalia Skall, 22, daughter of Ruben and Katharina Skall of Chroustovice. We know that Rosalia Reichman of Bukovina no. 9 died in 1874, aged 74.

3. Ludwig Reichman, 29.6 (means born in April 1833), son Samuel Reichman of Bukovina and Theresia nee Skall, married in Holice in October 10, 1862 Johanna Popper, daughter of Lazar Popper of Holice. It means that both men had sonLudwig. The date of this one´s birth makes me think that your Samuel is the other one of Raab who had son Ludwig in 1838.

Section of birth records:

Marcus Reichman and Eleonora Wildenschwert had two illegitimate children born in Borek no. 10. I believe that both were legitimised later on and named Reichmans (see below).

ii Leopold Wildenschwert born in March 14, 1847.

Samuel Reichman (son of (missing first name) Reichman and wife Anna (!)) and Rosalia nee Pinkas and Katharina Skall had one daughter Magdalena born October 11, 1850 in Bukovina no. 27. Their marriage record showed them being single.

Ludwig Reichman, son of Samuel and Rosalia (nee Skall of Luze, district Chroustovice) Reichman, and Johanna nee Popper had 3 children :

i Alois born in March 17, 1863 in Bukovina no. 45

ii Josepha born in July 17, 1865 in Bukovina no. 21

iii Emanuel born in July 13, 1867 in Bukovina no. 21

In Holice records I found Adolph Reichman whom I traced in town Pardubice.

Adolph Reichman was son of Marcus and Eleonora nee Wildenschwert Reichman, born in Byst no. 22 in April 28, 1857.

Joseph Reichman, listed above, son of Marcus and Eleonora nee Wildenschwert Reichman had 4 children with Anna nee Wohryzek, all born in Vysoke near Holice no. 84:

i Marie born in July 5, 1870

ii Louise born in July 15, 1871

iii Rudolf born in 1874 (missing date)

iv Rosalia born in 1876

Interestingly (or not), Anna Reichman was daughter of Samuel Wohryzek and Judith Katscher.

I also checked different books of vital records. After a visit to local archive I will continue with catholic duplicates, now I know which parish circuits were relevant.

There were no records on Reichmans in Pardubice birth and marriage records within 1869-1949, except this one :

Karel Reichman, born in December 9, 1892, married in September 26, 1920 Martha Lampl, born in December 26, 1893.

In death records of Pardubice I found :

Alfred Reichman of Raby (5km N of Pardubice) died in October 2, 1872, aged 5 months.

Rosalie Reichman of Bukovina house no.9 (15km N of Pardubice), widdow, died in December 30, 1874, aged 74 years.

Adolph Reichman of Pardubice, Rasinova street 1001, married, died in January 31, 1931, born in April 28, 1857.

In the records of nearby Holice I found family of Joseph and Anna nee Wohryzek REICHMANN. Joseph Reichman was son of Markus and Eleonore nee Wildenschwert REICHMANN. Anna nee Wohryzek Reichman was daughter of Samuel WOHRYZEK.

The children of Joseph and Anna nee Wohryzek REICHMANN, all born in Vysoka near Holice no. 84:

i Marie Reichman, born in July 5, 1870

ii Louise Reichman, born in July 15, 1871

iii Rudolph Reichman, born in April 1, 1874

iv Rosalia Reichman, born in January 3, 1876

Now, the main point. Earlier this week I went to district archive in Pardubice.

I started with Pardubice town :

1) list of house owners in Pardubice in 1850; no Reichman found.

2) list of citizens in 1910; no Reichman found.

3) police card registers (copies enclosed):

Adolf Reichman, born in Byst (15km N of Pardubice) in April 28, 1857, salesman, domicile Bukovina (15km N of Pardubice), in Pardubice since 1926, died in January 31, 1931 in Pardubice.

(2nd) wife Bertha nee Fleischl, born in Kolin in May 16, 1876, married in Kolin in January 3, 1908, deported in December 17,1942

son Karl, born 1892

son Otakar, born November 14, 1909 in Nový Hradec Králové, deported in December 17,1942

wife Zdenka nee Adler, born in April 24, 1907, married in December 27, 1941, deported in December 17,1942

So places Byst and Bukovina (very close to Byst) were the clues, plus Brozany (5km N of Pardubice) mentioned in Familiant Books and Raby (very close to Brozany) in Pardubice vital records.

Byst (parish Byst).

Then I studied the town archive of Byst, the available records start in 1902, no use. In other cases, the town archives were in fragments as well, so parish records were better source of information, see below. Byst parish recordsenlist that in 1833, there was one Jewish family (no more details).

Bukovina (parish Dritec).

Bukovina belonged to parish Dritec, so I checked the records of this parish. List of souls in 1862 in Bukovina showed family of Samuel (age 61) and Rozarye (59) Rajchman in Bukovina no.9 (smithery), their children were Bernard, 25, Terezye, 20, and Marye, 18 (see a copy).

Brozany (parish Kunetice).

List of requested domicile cerificates showed - usually for migration to elsewhere - Rosalie Reichman (born 1866 which must be mispelling since it also read that she is a woman of average stature) who asked for domicile certificate of Brozany in April 26, 1866, Leopold Reichman born 1825, asked in January 18, 1866, Anna Reichman born 1835, asked in July 25, 1867, Franciska Reichman aged 27, asked in March 1, 1868, David Reichman of Miskovice (!?), aged41, asked in May 8, 1874, Josefa Reichman, born in 1825, widdow after leopold Reichman, asked in April 10, 1875.

Parish list of souls of Brozany in 1851 showed two Jewish women, Freier Franciska and Teresie, surpsingly no Reichmans (supposedly all left).

Raby (parish Kunetice).

Parish list of souls of Raby (Raab) in 1851 showed ten Jewish people, all of Reichman family in Raby house no. 27 :

Now I know which parish the places of our interest belonged to (Byst, Raby, Brozany, Bukovina). I will check whether some catholic duplicates of Kunetice and Byst are available in Prague National archive and get back to you next week.
