Notes for Arnold Greissle
{geni:about_me} I served in the US Army during WW2. Graduated from NYU in 1951, Masters from NYU 1952. Worked as manager for several Latin American airlines until 1994, when I retired. With my wife, Nancy, sponsored many cultural events as member of the board of The Lark Ascending. Among many other accomplishments, we performed world premieres of the principal musical works of my uncle Georg Schoenberg, mostly in NYC and are still looking forward to doing so in Austria.
I wrote a book, Arnold Schoenberg und sein Wiener Kreis, which deals in part with my illustrious grandfather, but also with the lives of my family and me, mainly before and during the Nazi era, and also deals, especially, with thelife of Goergi Schoenberg and his family. My wife, Nancy Bogen, is the author of six books, including three novels, and has been the guiding spirit of all our cultural endeavors.
I also had a very talented brother, Hermann, who painted and did woodcuts, in fact considered himself, as he put it, the Johann Sebastian Bach of woodcutting. I am still hoping that his works will be exhibited and garner him somerecognition for his exquisite illustrations and striking pictures.
With best wishes for my (growing and far-flung) family. Arnold
