{geni:about_me} Anne Kane was my grandmother. She was an amazing woman-a pioneer in her time. She was a single parent, during the Great Depression, and was an entrepreneuress of the highest degree. She sold insurance, was a bookkeeper for restaurants and saloons owned by the mob-my mother and uncle never went hungry because they would send her home with steaks and some very treif food items. She never backed down from any kind of adversity-she was able toturn every situation around for the greatest good. She was a mensch in a female body!

When I think I'm at the end of my rope, I conjure images of her and how close we were at the end of her life, and I am grateful that I was able to share so much with her, from rafting trips down the American River for 3 summers ina row, to surprise trips to San Francisco to have dinner and a play-and when she came to the camp where I was a baker to camp out and visit. She is a constant inspiration to me-she cheered me on and encouraged me. Here's to you,Grandma! Jessica (Yafa)
